Many people almost cry their eyes out when watching some soap playsthrobbed with love themes。Love is the key element that leads a couple before the sacred altarof the church。

However, in the past, many people got married without their ownconsent in China. Their marriage was arranged. Tow persons, a man and a woman, who were entirely strangers, were united in wedlock and became husband andwife. They had known nothing of each other before, and of course, love was asealed book to both of them. This type of marriage often led to unhappiness. Tragicstories of ill-matched were common enough.

Nowadays, it is held by many people that one should not marrywithout love. A man and a woman may freely make friends with each other. Theydo not talk of marriage until their friendship has ripened into love. In their marriage, they may take other things into consideration, but they regard love as the mostimportant thing. This type of marriage usually brings happiness.

Moreover, love may be a temporary passion, and those who are in loveare often blind to other things, so that what we call love matches do notalways result in happiness. Therefore, while love is required before a marriageis arranged, it is not the only thing required.

Since the financial crisis swept the world, the global economy has sunk into a severe recession. It’s hard to get through a day without hearing or reading news about the devastating effects of the crisis: A world of companies go bankrupt, millions of employees are laid off, high-return investment bubbles burst, and huge sums of loans can never be retrieved. Its impact on our daily life can be felt in all walks of life。

College students inevitably fall victim to this pervasive slump as well. On top of that, internships and job vacancies are reduced to the minimum as companies keep shrinking. New graduates find themselves hard to get a job, not to speak of a satisfactory one. What comes next? Poor students will be hard-pressed if they find student loans unavailable any more. As a result, some even cannot afford to continue their studies. Lastly, more students are probably out there anxiously looking for part-time jobs now that they have to help cover their expenses in this gloomy economy. Their innocence and eagerness might be taken advantage of by some malicious businesspeople, or even criminal gang。

In response to these threats, we students must act promptly and wisely. Since we definitely will be facing a competitive job market, it’s crucial that we submit high quality resumes. Therefore, we must commit more to our professional studies. Even do better, master more relevant job skills as a double security. Furthermore, apply for scholarships and grants, as these are still available and we don’t have to pay them back. As for the safety issues, trust our instinct – there’s no free lunch in this world. Anything that promises quick returns without much work is a sure trap. Stay alert and protect ourselves。

  Away from Net-bar Campaign

It has been reported that a middle school in Xuzhou City has recently launched a campaign named “Away from Net-bar”. More than a thousand students have signed for their solemn promise that they will not spend a single minute in the net-bars. With the nearing of the summer vacation, this campaign is especially meaningful for the healthy development of the minors.

The internet has brought people great convenience in getting information, entertainment and contact with others, and it has also benefited some businessmen, especially the owner of net-bars. While it is true that most net-bars are running legally, it is also true that some are offering unhealthy programs that involve violence and sex content. Since most middle school students are prone to be influenced and they can hardly tell which bars are doing well and which ones are not, it is only advisable that they stay away from all. Besides , staying away from net-bars also does good to students’ physical health. By passively sitting too long in front of the computer screen, both their eyesight and physique suffer.

Obviously , the Away from Net-bars Campaign is an activity that is worth advocating and it merits other schools’ reference

  My Views on Examination

Nowadays the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject in most colleges and universities. Although it is efficient, its side effects are also enormous.

On the one hand, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. Nosubjectsjcan.be taught successfullywith jjntenttojtake.examinations. On the other hand, the most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. A the examinations corejis the only criterion for his academic performance students driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively.

In fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students’ academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?

i didnt cry when i learned i was the parent of a mentally handicapped child. i just sat still and didnt say anything while my husband and i were informed that two-year-old kristi was - as we suspected - retarded.

go ahead and cry, the doctor advised kindly. helps prevent serious emotional difficulties.

serious difficulties notwithstanding, i couldnt cry then nor during the months that followed.

when kristi was old enough to attend school, we enrolled her in our neighborhood schools kindergarten at age seven.

it would have been comforting to cry the day i left her in that room full of self-assured, eager, alert five-year-olds.kristi had spent hour upon hour playing by herself, but this moment, when she was the different child among twenty, was probably the loneliest she had ever known.

however, positive things began to happen to kristi in her school, and to her schoolmates, too. when boasting of their own accomplishments, kristis classmates always took pains to praise her as well: kristi got all her spelling words right today. no one bothered to add that her spelling list was easier than anyone elses.

during kristis second year in school, she faced a very traumatic eperience. the big public event of the term was a competition based on a culmination of the years music and physical education activities. kristi was way behind in both銆?music and motor coordination. my husband and i dreaded the day as well.

on the day of the program, kristi pretended to be sick. desperately i wanted to keep her home. why let kristi fail in a gymnasium filled with parents, students and teachers? what a simple solution it would be just to let my child stay home. surely missing one program couldnt matter. but my conscience wouldnt let me off that easily. so i practically shoved a pale, reluctant kristi onto the school bus and proceeded to be sick myself.

just as i had forced my daughter to go to school, now i forced myself to go to the program. it seemed that it would never be time for kristis group to perform. when at last they did, i knew why kristi had been worried. her class was divided into relay teams. with her limp and slow, clumsy reactions, she would surely hold up her team.

the performance went surprisingly well, though, until it was time for the gunnysack race. now each child had to climb into a sack from a standing position, hop to a goal line, return and climb out of the sack.

i watched kristi standing near the end of her line of players, looking frantic.

but as kristis turn to participate neared, a change took place in her team. the tallest boy in the line stepped behind kristi and placed his hands on her waist. two other boys stood a little ahead of her. the moment the player in front of kristi stepped from the sack, those two boys grabbed the sack and held it open while the tall boy lifted kristi and dropped her neatly into it. a girl in front of kristi took her hand and supported her briefly until kristi gained her balance. then off she hopped, smiling and proud.

amid the cheers of teachers, schoolmates and parents, i crept off by myself to thank god for the warm, understanding people in life who make it possible for my disabled daughter to be like her fellow human beings.

  then i finally cried.
