　　“所有事情都有一個反面，”俗話說，在2分鐘內(nèi)，德里克斯沃爾斯以一些你可能不會期待的方式證明了這一點。

　　So, imagine you're standing on a streetanywhere in America and a Japanese man comes up to you and says,"Excuse me, what is the name of thisblock?"

　　好，假設你現(xiàn)在站在美國任何一個地方的街道上一個日本人走過來跟你說，“打擾一下，請問這棟街區(qū)叫什么名字?”

　　And you say, "I'm sorry, well, this is Oak Street, that's Elm Street. This is 26th, that's 27th."

　　而你說，“不知道。不過，這條是橡樹街，那條是榆樹街。這條是26街，那條是27街。”

　　He says, "OK, but what is the name of that block?"

　　他說，“哦，好的。那這棟街區(qū)叫什么名字呢?”

　　You say, "Well, blocks don't have names. Streets have names; blocks are just the unnamed spaces in betweenstreets."

　　你說，“街區(qū)是沒有名字的。街道才有名字;街區(qū)只不過是街道之間的未命名的空間。”

　　He leaves, a little confused anddisappointed.

　　他帶著一點疑惑和失望離開了。

　　So, now imagine you're standing on astreet, anywhere in Japan, you turn to a person next to you and say,"Excuse me, what is the name of thisstreet?"

　　好，現(xiàn)在假設你正站在日本某個地方的街道上，你找到你旁邊的一個人說，“打擾一下，請問這條街道叫什么名字?”

　　They say, "Oh, well that's Block 17and this is Block 16.

　　And you say, "OK, but what is the nameof this street?"

　　And they say, "Well, streets don'thave names. Blocks have names. Just look at Google Maps here. There's Block 14,15, 16, 17, 18, 19. All of these blocks have names, and the streets are justthe unnamed spaces in between the blocks.

　　他們會說，“啊，街道是沒有名字的。街區(qū)才有名字。 看一下這張谷歌地圖，這里有14，15，16，17，18，19街區(qū)。 這些街區(qū)都有名字。 街道只不過是街區(qū)之間那些未命名的空間。

　　And you say then, "OK, then how do youknow your home address?"

　　那你會說了，“好吧，那你怎么寫你的家庭住址呢?”

　　He said, "Well, easy, this is DistrictEight. There's Block 17, house number one."

　　他說，“嗨，簡單，這里是第八區(qū)， 17街區(qū)，一號房屋。”

　　You say, "OK, but walking around theneighborhood, I noticed that the house numbers don't go in order."

　　你說，“好吧，但是在鄰里四周轉(zhuǎn)轉(zhuǎn)，我發(fā)現(xiàn)房屋號碼不是按順序排的�！�

　　He says, "Of course they do. They goin the order in which they were built. The first house ever built on a block ishouse number one. The second house ever built is house number two. Third ishouse number three. It's easy. It's obvious."

　　他說，“當然不是。他們是按他們建造的時間順序來排序的。街區(qū)里第一所建造的房子是一號房屋。第二所建造的房子是二號房屋。第三所是三號房屋。很簡單，很明顯�！�

　　So, I love that sometimes we need to go tothe opposite side of the world to realize assumptions we didn't even know wehad, and realize that the opposite of them may also be true.

　　所以，我認為有時候我們需要去世界的另一端去驗證那些我們不以為意的偏見，去驗證我們偏見的反面可能也是正確的。

　　So, for example, there are doctors in Chinawho believe that it's their job to keep you healthy. So, any month you arehealthy you pay them, and when you're sick you don't have to pay them becausethey failed at their job. They get rich when you're healthy, not sick.(Applause)

　　例如，中國的醫(yī)生認為保持你的健康是他們的職責。所以，你健康的時候你得付錢給他們，而當你生病的時候你不需要付錢給他們，因為他們在他們的工作上失職了。他們在你健康而不是生病的時候賺錢。(掌聲)

　　In most music, we think of the"one" as the downbeat, the beginning of the musical phrase: one, two,three, four. But in West African music, the "one" is thought of as the end of the phrase, like the period at the end of a sentence. So, you canhear it not just in the phrasing, but the way they count off their music: two,three, four, one.

　　在大多數(shù)音樂中我們認為第一拍是強拍，是音階的開始。一，二，三，四。但在非洲西部音樂中，第一拍被認為是音階的結(jié)束，就像是句子末尾的句號。因此，你不但可以在音階中，而且可以從他們打節(jié)奏的方法上聽到。二，三，四，一。

　　And this map is also accurate. (Laughter)

　　There's a saying that whatever true thingyou can say about India, the opposite is also true. So, let's never forget,whether at TED, or anywhere else, that whatever brilliant ideas you have orhear, that the opposite may also be true. Domo arigato gozaimashita.

　　有個諺語說，無論你說什么關于印度的真理，反過來它也是正確的。所以，我們永遠不要忘記，無論在TED，或其他任何地方，無論你有了或聽到了什么精妙的思想，那反面可能也是正確的。謝謝。

　　《任何事情都有正反兩面》觀后感

　　我相信對于每個人來說，他都有自己的正反兩面。就是人的好和壞，正面就是正善美，反面就是假丑惡。

　　我說一個故事你聽你就會明白的。有一次，我在乘公共巴士的時候，我看見了一個男人趁巴士多人，偷偷地拿了一個鄉(xiāng)村婦女的錢，那個婦女帶著一個五六歲的孩子很可憐的樣子。當那個婦女下了車的時候，發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的錢包不見了，就大哭了起來。那個男人就走過去問婦女怎么了。

　　那個婦女就告訴他，她的丈夫不要她了，她就把自己養(yǎng)的一頭大豬賣了，剛剛奏夠了錢。但是給人偷了，現(xiàn)在又不能去找丈夫又不能回家，所以就哭了。那個男人就叫她再仔細找一次看是不是放在別的地方去了。于是，那個男人趁婦女不留神的時候把錢放在婦女的孩子的衣袋里。當婦女找到錢的時候，她終于不哭了，笑了起來。那個男人還把自己的錢給了婦女。

　　看完這個故事后是不是覺得那個男人很愚蠢，竟偷了錢還把錢還了給婦女和給了自己的錢。但是我就覺得他還是有一顆善良的心，你說是不是。所以我們要珍惜好我們的正面。
