教師英語(yǔ)求職自薦信
Dear Dr. Anderson,
Mr.Li Quanzhi who has just returned to China from your university informed that you are considering the possibility of offering a Chinese language course to your students in the next academic year and may have an opening for a teacher of the Chinese language. I am very much interested in such a position.
I have been teaching Chinese literature and composition at college level since 1980. In the past three years, I have worked in summer programs, teaching the Chinese language and culture to students from English-speaking courtries. As a result, I got to know well the common problems of these students and how to adapt teaching to achieve the best results.
With years of intensive English training, I have no difficulty conducting classes in English and feel queit comfortable working with American students.

寫英文求職信的九個(gè)要點(diǎn)
現(xiàn)在工作環(huán)境競(jìng)爭(zhēng)激烈,有些好的工作崗位都有許多人爭(zhēng)相投簡(jiǎn)歷。然而,對(duì)方公司的HR可不一定會(huì)逐個(gè)逐個(gè)研究求職者的簡(jiǎn)歷。所以優(yōu)秀簡(jiǎn)歷難免會(huì)被淹沒在大海之中。
現(xiàn)在問題來(lái)了,拿什么拯救你,我的簡(jiǎn)歷?
所有的簡(jiǎn)歷乍看起來(lái)外表都長(zhǎng)得一樣,唯一能讓HR對(duì)它們另眼相看的,卻是另一樣?xùn)|西——隨著簡(jiǎn)歷一起投遞的求職信,俗稱cover letter.
千萬(wàn)別小看求職信,你對(duì)一個(gè)崗位的誠(chéng)意有幾分,全在這信上了。因?yàn)楹?jiǎn)歷是死的,你不能對(duì)其進(jìn)行任何"二次創(chuàng)作",但你卻可以通過求職信來(lái)說簡(jiǎn)歷沒有說的東西。然而,許多人都習(xí)慣于復(fù)制求職信,比如在某招聘網(wǎng)站上寫完一封求職信后,在之后所有的簡(jiǎn)歷投遞中都用這封信,連對(duì)對(duì)方的稱呼都不變。這樣對(duì)方公司能感受到誠(chéng)意嗎?
求職信,最起碼要根據(jù)不同的公司進(jìn)行修改。而且,對(duì)于外企公司來(lái)說,最好也準(zhǔn)備一封英文的求職信。不過這英文信該怎么寫?不用困惑,這東西不難寫。今天華生為你來(lái)分享英文求職信寫作必知的9個(gè)要點(diǎn),看看你需要怎樣做吧?
1. Length: A letter of application should be no more than one page long.
或許你會(huì)覺得越全面地向HR展示自己越好,寫起求職信就像寫自傳一樣,這其實(shí)是最令人頭疼的。誰(shuí)會(huì)想在忙碌的時(shí)候靜下心來(lái)閱讀一份很長(zhǎng)很長(zhǎng)很長(zhǎng)的信?HR多半會(huì)直接選擇把這封信跳過。
2. Format: A letter of application should be single-spaced with a space between each paragraph. Use about 1" margins and align your text to the left, which is the standard alignment for most documents.
就好像上面說的一樣,密密麻麻的字讓人看了就煩心,所以求職信一定要最求干凈、簡(jiǎn)潔,讓人一目了然,順暢閱讀。
3. Font: Use a traditional font such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri. The font size should be between 10 and 12 points.
求職信不需要花哨,使用三種英文標(biāo)準(zhǔn)字體均可,就好像中文一般都會(huì)用宋體或微軟雅黑一樣,看著也會(huì)比較舒服。也不要把字體弄太大,這樣看起來(lái)不會(huì)醒目多少,卻會(huì)難看許多。
4. Header: A letter of application should begin with both you and the employer's contact information (name, address, phone number, email) followed by the date. If this is an email rather than an actual letter, include your contact information at the end of the letter, after your signature.
寫英文信件時(shí)最需要注意的是中英文信件的格式不同。另外,稱呼老外時(shí)需要使用"稱謂+姓氏"的格式,比如"Dear Mr./Ms. Last Name.",Mr和Ms后面可別寫名字了。如果你不知道對(duì)方叫什么,可以用"Dear Hiring Manager."的說法來(lái)代替。
5. Introduction: Begin by stating what job you are applying for. Explain where you heard about the job, particularly if you heard about it from a contact associated with the company. Briefly mention how your skills and experience match the company and/or position; this will give the employer a preview of the rest of your letter.
自我介紹是正文開頭必不可少的,也是禮貌的一種體現(xiàn)。不過就像華生提醒過的那樣,千萬(wàn)不要長(zhǎng)篇累牘地寫"自傳",要抓住自己學(xué)習(xí)和職業(yè)生涯中的精彩亮點(diǎn)簡(jiǎn)明扼要地寫。
6. Body: In a paragraph or two, explain why you are interested in the job and why you make an excellent candidate for the position. Mention specific qualifications listed in the job posting, and explain how you meet those qualifications. Do not simply restate your resume, but provide specific examples that demonstrate your abilities. You can either write about these specific examples in complete sentences or in a bulleted format.
做過自我介紹后就有理由向HR證明為何你是"最適合"該崗位的人。將對(duì)方的要求羅列出來(lái),再將你的亮點(diǎn)與之對(duì)應(yīng)。這是一封求職信中最為重要的部分,能不能打動(dòng)HR就看你的工作能力和語(yǔ)言表達(dá)能力了。
7. Closing: Restate how your skills make you a strong fit for the company and/or position. State that you would like to interview and/or discuss employment opportunities. Explain what you will do to follow up, and when you will do it. Thank the employer for his/her consideration.
最后需要把前面的話都簡(jiǎn)單概括一下,也別忘記向HR表示謝意,感謝他百忙之中看完了你的求職信(其實(shí)從某方面說這是應(yīng)該的……),因?yàn)榇蟛糠智舐毿旁贖R看到一半的時(shí)候就丟了。
8. Signature: End with your signature, handwritten, followed by your typed name. If this is an email, simply include your typed name, followed by your contact information.
千萬(wàn)記得留下自己的聯(lián)系方式。雖然HR可以通過其他方法查到這些信息,但是如果HR在一瞬間對(duì)你"動(dòng)了心",又馬上有辦法聯(lián)系你的話,一切就如同趁熱打鐵一樣恰到好處。從某種程度說,對(duì)待HR就像是對(duì)待"顧客"一樣,需要設(shè)想周到,給對(duì)方提供最好的"服務(wù)體驗(yàn)".
9. Proof and Edit Your Letter: Remember to proof and edit your letter before sending it. It may sound silly, but also be sure to include the correct employer and company names - when you write many letters of application at once, it is easy to make a mistake.
千萬(wàn)別一寫完就立刻覺得大功告成然后發(fā)出去了。打個(gè)比方,你應(yīng)聘某個(gè)廣告公司的文案,卻在求職信里寫出各種病句錯(cuò)字,對(duì)方看到的話肯定會(huì)質(zhì)疑你的專業(yè)水平。就算你不是文字工作者,在求職信的表述和用詞方面再精雕細(xì)琢一下是不會(huì)錯(cuò)的。要知道,對(duì)很多企業(yè)來(lái)說你的求職信只有一次被閱讀的機(jī)會(huì)。
其實(shí)華生覺得,求職信一個(gè)最大的問題就是篇幅?赡苡行┡笥巡簧瞄L(zhǎng)總結(jié)和精煉,所以不把話說多說全了,很難體現(xiàn)出自己要表現(xiàn)的亮點(diǎn)。但是我之前也說了,長(zhǎng)篇累牘的求職信很可能讓HR掃一眼就略過了。另外還有句話,叫"言多必失",或許你說多了,反而有東西沒說好;又或許你說多了,別人感覺你羅嗦。
對(duì)了,還需要提醒一下,英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)的某些說法并不適合用到正式的書面語(yǔ)之中,縮寫也需要慎用。所以平時(shí)你在鍛煉口語(yǔ)的同時(shí),也別把書面語(yǔ)都落下了。
