  1. Let students know about the passage by fast reading and intensive reading.

  2. Have students grasp the main idea of each paragraph and some key words.

Teaching procedures:

Step I Lead in

教師活動(dòng):教師展示法云埃及與阿司旺大壩的圖片(見(jiàn)ppt.),提問(wèn)下面問(wèn)題,教師可提問(wèn)所有學(xué)生及個(gè)別學(xué)生。

學(xué)生活動(dòng):學(xué)生在看完圖片后,回答所列的問(wèn)題。

  Show the map of Egypt and Africa. Get the Ss to respond the teacher’s questions:

  T: Where is Africa ? / Where is Egypt ?/ What is the river? What is the dam ?

Step II. Watch the video

  The Palace Museum is in the center of Beijing. It covers an area of 72 hectares(公頃). It was first built in the early 15th century. It took 1,000,000 people to work on it. The building of the project lasted 14 years and was finished in 1420. During the later years, some of the houses were rebuilt. Twenty-four emperors used to live in it. It was not until 1925 that the Palace Museum became a museum. Since then the place has been open to the public.
